Evaluation of ecosystem health or population dynamics often requires rigorous mathematical analyses of data. Plateau Ecological is prepared to assist with those needs. Dr. Carver, Plateau Ecological's principal scientist, has completed undergraduate coursework in statistics as well as graduate coursework in biostatistical analysis, nonparametric stastical analysis, and multivariate statistical analysis.

In addition to basic analyses such as t-tests, ANOVAs, correlations, and regressions, we have extensive experience estimating population size and density via mark-recapture methods and the use of population estimation software including CAPTURE and DENSITY as well as measures of occupation estimation and modeling via PRESENCE.

Evaluation of species diversity can include basic measures such as the Shannon-Wiener index, or comparison of diversity values between or among sites via jackknife or similar methods.

Circular data (time, compass aspect, etc.) require special statistical methods. We have considerable experience evaluating circular data.
